Development Stage 2 - Animatic
Developing the idea of using the Sky News iPad & iPhone apps, that were already very popular, to better display key coverage throughout their delivery. Highlighting key programming in an none invasive, user operated way, to Sky's existing customer base.
Once designed into an animatic, I presented the idea to the Creative Director and Design Head of Sky where it was approved to stage 2 of development (displayed above). The project was then handed over to a newly hired Digital Art Director when I moved on to pastures new.
The idea worked by loading story specific promos within the platform, and only displaying it with a relevant story in the app content. On the iPhone app it was launched when a user selected a story of interest, once this area of specific interest was established, on route into the article in question, a story promo for another section of Sky's output was delivered. All the time being user controlled - a regular user could just swipe through the animation - avoiding the invasive advertising familiar to most on sites like YouTube where you need to wait a number of seconds before actually getting content (a pet peace of many).
